TS 16949 - Management tool with customer focus
In March 2011 the SBS caliper business area was certified according to the car industry quality assurance standard, TS 16949.
For suppliers to the OE/OES segment, the TS 16949 is obligatory.
But our experiences with the TS 16949 as a management tool have shown that also free aftermarket customers will benefit from this due to its explicit customer orientation.

TS16949 is based on the principle of full customer focus.
Therefore all processes and working routines are designed to secure
that the customers get products and services according to their
requirements.
Customer advantages
The main customer advantages of the TS16949 system are:
Continuous improvements
With TS16949 the manufacturer is obliged to implement continuous
improvements of processes and work flows in order to keep the cost
level, which is directly influenced by the manufacturer himslef,
down.
Measures to prevent errors
The TS16949 system also contains a number of control measures that
prevent errors. If errors should still occur - the system describes
how to deal with them systematically and analytically to prevent
recurrence.
This means that the TS 16949 contributes directly to ensure deliveries with a minimum of errors both in terms of product quality and logistics.
Reduction of waste
Waste of material and time are cost increasing factors. TS 16949
together with LEAN manufacturing processing contribute to high
efficiency and a minimum of waste in the production.
Subcontactors
An automotive caliper may comprise parts which are delivered by
subcontractors. The TS6949 also includes procedures and control
measures directed towards subcontractor activities.
This means that SBS works systematically to control and develop
its subcontractors so that all parts of the complete caliper meet
customer requirements for quality and durability.
Stronger business concepts
All in all, with the advantages of TS16949, we are convinced that
our certification also will contribute actively to strengthen not
only our own activities, but also our customers' business concepts
within brake calipers.
